What is Neurodiversity?
The autism spectrum is just that; a spectrum of abilities and needs. In recent years, heightened awareness to this spectrum has created good, much needed, discussion about labels, community supports, and self-disclosure. Neurodiversity is a term developed in the 1990’s but is just now gaining traction. It represents the philosophy that peoople experience and interact with the world around them in different ways. Those differences should not be considered deficits. For this reason, the term neurodiversity includes, ADD, autism, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, touretty syndrome, and others. Recently there has been a larger emphasis on creating neurodiverse work cultures, community events, and education. At Inspire ND, it is our goal to take this awareness and make it the norm not the exception. We will all be better off if there is a little bit more understanding and compassion in the world for everyone! Fill out a Contact Form to receive more information.
